Speed Up Your Game With Raxco Disk Degramenter

August 9, 2007 – 6:57 amAre you tired of getting slowed down when you’re playing World of Warcraft? Sick of a frozen screen when you’re about to advance to the next playing level?
Then you might want to check out Raxco’s new disk defragmenter software that will optimize your computer, allowing you to step up your game.
According to Blizzard Entertainment, the user base for World of Warcraft has reached 9 million players worldwide. These 9 million players are always on the lookout for ways to tweak their games and improve performance, whether through hardware or software.
One particularly difficult problem is WoW’s MPQ files, which include data, graphics, sound and more. These MPQ files are very large and are updated regularly. When they are updated, they often fragment, which causes lagging and hangs during interactive game play. A common solution for WoW players is to use PerfectDisk to defragment the entire drive, including the MPQ files.

Same problem. Common.MPQ file was 3.5gb and had over 300 fragments. WinXP wouldn’t fix it. Part of the problem was that the free space on HD was fragmented (ie: not enough free space to move the big file around to defrag it; even with 14gb free.)
Downloaded trial version of PerfectDisk8. After a few passes (doing what it recommended), contents of drive are neatly arranged and Common.MPQ only has 2 fragments.
