Profitable Delay

A friend of mine needed some bloodstone ore, so I had just enough time to finish one little quest in the Searing Gorge (one with a low drop rate, too, so I was lucky to get the last drop in time). Got myself six bars into level 51, so quite a ways to go, but my trip to Arathi was well worth the effort.

The bloodstone ore is needed for some quest (can’t quite remember, but I’ve gotten it for a few people). Anyway, the ore is found a in cave in the mountains to the very east, right on the edge of the map beside Hammerfall. The little dudes in there are around level 36 and 37, so I clean them out quite quickly. Besides the money they drop, I was able to mine 20 bloodstone ore, 19 mithril ore, 7 iron ore (okay, three of those were a drop), 1 aquamarine, various stone from the mining nodes, lots of silk cloth, and about three level 30 green items, plus a few gray items.

4 bloodstone went to my friend, the other 16 in stacks of 4 to the Auction House at 1 gold each stack. The aquamarine went to the auction for 90 silver (just under the top price of 1 gold each) as well. Smelted and saved the mithril for the future (when my blacksmithing gets high enough!), and smelted and smithed the iron. Turned the silk into bandages, and saved those.

All told, I got 5 mining levels, two blacksmithing levels, about 15 first aid levels, and I would be surprised if I did not get at least 7 gold, not counting the mithril bars I saved. Now, if I am going to miss out on getting XP toward my next level, then that’s the kind of trip I like!

    2. Ooo, My 41 Warrior toon is a miner/blacksmith so I’ve been hanging around that Cave near Tarren Mills which also has some Bloodstone ore spots. I mined them once before the expansion came out but never really looked around to figure a price on the ores. Sounds like they’re lucrative!

Right now, copper ore is really lucrative too with all the little Jewelcrafters running about, but I’ve been working on my Armorcrafting quests so I’ve been focussing on mithril and truesilver nodes. Unfortunately, most of the nodes are in areas 5-10 levels higher than my warrior, so I guess it’s time to do some quest grinding…
