Level 63, and a New Char
by Erik
February 20, 2007 – 9:21 amWell, I made it to level 63 last night after finishing a quest in Zangarmarsh, and a couple of grind kills. It has been an eventful few days for me, so here is a synopsis of what I have been doing:
I created a new character, a human warrior, whose main purpose is to be my Auction House character. I have gotten him to level 10, got him to Ironforge, and started him on his Enchanting career. Now I send him my stuff from mail boxes throughout the Outlands to put in the Auction House, and hopefully a few lower level greens for disenchanting. If I don’t get any lower level greens (lower level in Outlands? Hah!), then he can just buy some and disenchant to get the levels up, and maybe even make a bit of money. From time to time I will need to take him out for training, because your Enchanting levels can’t go too high when you’re a level 10!
I switched my Hunter’s specs from Marksman to Beast Master, and this has made a HUGE difference. First, I don’t steal anywhere near as much aggro from my bear, and this has saved me considerable damage, as well as mana for traps, and is just over all better for the Hunter himself. As for the bear, he deals a ton more damage, and has been very helpful in some of the instances I’ve gone to. For one thing, he can take aggro off a healer really well. For another, he can give a tank a break if needed for some quick bandage time.
Speaking of which, I also did my first two instances in the Outlands: Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace. The Ramparts was difficult if only because it was tough to find a group that was willing to copperate, and had a decent leader. I am not very experienced in instances because most of my training has been solo, but I take orders well and like to follow a well-communicated plan. If needed, I am willing to sacrifice myself or my bear for the team’s well-being. What I don’t like is when people just go in and start killing things with no articulated plan, or even worse, no clue what they are doing. What I hate even more is when people join a group for an instance and 15 minutes later say “well, I have to go now, I have date in half an hour”.
Talk about letting the team down. Either don’t join the group in the first place, or stand the girl up!
Anyway, I did not get any amazing drops or anything, but the XP was great, as were the quest rewards. My Hunter is quite well dressed now, and can barely be recognized as the mere level 60 that walked into the Outlands a few days ago. I am also second highest level in my guild, but I am sure no one feels any competition or pressure to reach 70 first. No, none at all. (Have you ever thought that the English language really, really needs a sarcasm point for punctuation? I could really use one here).
So far I have not noticed any improved guns in the Outlands. I have used a gun exclusively since the beginning, and I refuse to switch to bows unless absolutely necessary. If anyone knows of a good one from a quest, I’d be grateful to hear about it.
Well, that’s about it for now. Comments welcome, and encouraged. If anyone thinks I am doing something wrong, or has a better way of doing things, I am all ears.
